LG’s Gram line of laptops have always been thin and light productivity machines. Those slim profiles, however, haven’t made them the best option when it comes to battery life. The new LG Gram laptop changes that.

Despite retaining the slim and light profile that has made the laptop a popular productivity machine, the device now boasts battery life up to 22.5 hours, allowing you to use nonstop it for an overnight coding session without plugging in until the next morning. Considering most people don’t use their laptops that way on a daily basis, it’s fair to say this will handle all your productivity needs even without a nearby outlet in sight.

The LG Gram is powered by 8th-gen Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, as well as an integrated GPU, making for a capable productivity machine for both school and work. SSD storage ensures fast read and write response times (boot time is under 10 seconds), with room in the laptop for up to two SSD drives despite its impressively slim frame. No details on maximum storage available, but we’re guessing the top end will get two 2TB units, nor is there any information on the integrated GPU it’s using.

Three sizes are available: 13.3 inches, 14 inches, and 15.6 inches, each one weighing 2.1 pounds, 2.2 pounds, and 2.4 pounds, respectively. All three machines are equipped with a 72Wh battery, with the 13.3-inch, 14-inch, and 15.6-inch getting 22.5, 21.5, and 19 hours of operating time apiece. Yep, you can still get 19 hours even with the largest display. Designed for use in the field, it’s clad in a nano-carbon magnesium full metal alloy body, allowing it to pass MIL-STD 810G standards for impact, pressure, and temperature. Suffice to day, this thing will survive the daily grind, whether you work from home or commute to the office every morning.

The LG Gram has a full 1080p IPS display, with a panel that’s wider than the previous generation while having a much smaller bezel. It’s fitted with the outfit’s In-Cell Touch technology that provides a more accurate haptic control without the color shift that frequently happens when you touch the display, while a fingerprint reader on the power button allows you to power up and log in just one press. Despite the size, it houses a fan for cooling, which boasts even quitter operation than in the previous generation.

A backlit keyboard allows you to work even in low-light conditions, so you keep typing while sitting outside in a coffee shop late in the night, while LG claims the touchpad gets a smoother and more accurate pointer system. Other features include a 1.5W speaker, DTS Headphone X for multi-channel sound (up to 11 channels), and Thunderbolt 3 (for compatibility with Mac products and transmission of 4K content to exterior monitors). Oh yeah, and despite the slim bezel, they still made a point of cramming the webcam on the top bezel, which most users will probably appreciate.

No pricing has been announced yet for the LG Gram.
